Decoupage Captain America Shield Build
-Many, many comics were harmed in the making of this project-
An idea struck me for a new, unconventional Captain America shield.
Decoupage: a visual art form involving decorating an object by gluing cut-out paper, fabric, or other flat materials onto its surface, sometimes in combination with special paint effects, or other decorative elements.
So, I got out some spare shield parts and started playing…
..and playing...
Right about this point in the process (a year in) it hit me. I wasn't making an ode to comics. I was making a comic. The star a speech bubble, a sound effect, and a catch phrase. The white back a page. A bleached chariot of pressed pulp carrying gods, demons, monsters, lovers, heroes, and villains from their world into ours. The red, white, and blue a stage for clashes of muscle and mind.
A DIY vid is in the works that will combine ‘how-to’ with ‘step-by-step progression’ without turning into a glorified slide show. I think. Hopefully. No promises.
Be well.
